Mermaids War - Double page

⚔️🏺🏛️🧜‍♀️🦅 “Mermay” is over but I’m still excited to share this double page I made for a personal project based on that theme.

A few years ago I wanted to do some art for Mermay but I faced a challenge since I don’t like mermaids (at least the pinky, sparkly sugarish cliché of them) so I wanted to come up with an exciting new perspective and I thought of Mythology and Epicness. Some of you have seen the concepts I made back then. A clash of mermaids vs a clan of warriors riding winged horses.

Ever since there the story has been revolving my head, and at this moment of my life I’m doing some kind of creative reactivation (I’ll share about that in the future) I’ve been feeling super energic, full of ideas and most of all learning to not be so hard on myself, to let go perfectionism and enjoy (again) what I do.

I can assure you that I’ve enjoyed working on this image like I haven’t done in years. It took me a few days, I worked at slow pace but feeling the taste on each bite.

Ive been working also in the story and I’m liking so far what’s coming out of it, so probably I’ll keep sharing art from this project that I really hope you enjoy!
